Actual capacity varies with bag size, fill weight, folding style, basket layout, and the airflow spacing you leave. A full cycle typically runs around 6 hours when loaded, depending on load size, starting temperature, and which venting and cooldown method you use.
Manual bleed control is the upgrade over the 150L
The 200L runs everything the 150L does, and adds control at both ends of the cycle:
- Manual cold air venting at the start — purge trapped air yourself rather than relying solely on the automatic bleed. Trapped air is the most common cause of a chamber that reads at temperature while the load is not.
- Manual slow steam venting at the end — bring pressure down at your own pace instead of on a fixed program.
Controlled venting is what protects filter patch bags on the way down. Dropping pressure quickly bursts them. Having manual control over that descent, rather than one preset speed, is the practical reason growers running mixed bag sizes move up to this unit.
Loading
Four baskets come with the machine: three stainless wire baskets plus a solid basket for the bottom. They lift in and out as units, which makes loading and unloading considerably faster than working loose bags into a deep chamber.
At 51 inches tall this is a top-loading vertical. A step stool is recommended — you will be reaching down into the chamber on every cycle. If that is a concern for daily production, the side-loading B-310L loads at working height instead.

Power and installation
This autoclave requires a 208–240V, 40 amp single-phase connection. Installation is comparable to wiring a large electric dryer, a kiln, or an EV charger.

This needs a larger circuit than the 150L. An 8 kW heater is well beyond what a 30 amp dryer-style connection will carry. Have a certified electrician install the breaker, conductor, and receptacle before the machine arrives — professional installation is strongly recommended on a unit at this voltage and draw.

For grain spawn, substrate bags, agar, jars, tools, and lab supplies, this machine is fully capable.

How is this different from the 150L?
Considerably more capacity — 72 three-pound bags against 48 — a larger 8 kW heater, four baskets instead of two, and manual bleed control at both ends of the cycle. The 150L vents on a fixed program; the 200L lets you purge cold air at the start and control the steam release at the end yourself. It also needs a considerably larger electrical circuit.
What electrical service do I need?
208–240V single phase on a 40 to 50 amp breaker. A NEMA 14-50 plug and receptacle is the typical setup — the same connection used for EV chargers and electric ranges. The unit ships with color-coded leads that can be configured for whichever outlet your electrician selects.
Why does manual cold air venting matter?
Air trapped in the chamber insulates the load. The result is a chamber that reads at temperature while the center of your bags has not got there, which is exactly how a cycle contaminates despite looking correct on the display. Manual purging at the start gives you a way to be certain.
Can I pasteurize substrate in this unit?
No. The 200L does not hold the lower setpoints a true pasteurization cycle requires. For substrate you intend to pasteurize, look at the B-310L or larger, which run both processes in the same chamber.
Is this a good model for starting a small mushroom farm?
