150L Mushroom Autoclave — Commercial Digital Electric Pressure Sterilizer
150L Mushroom Autoclave — Commercial Digital Electric Pressure Sterilizer is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.

The 150L vertical autoclave is the best-selling machine in this style, and the one most growers land on when pressure cookers stop keeping up. Digital PID control over temperature, pressure, and cycle time makes it a genuine set-and-forget unit: 48 three-pound grain bags, 128 to 140 pounds of grain or substrate, in a single run.
- 483 lb bags per cycle
- 128–140 lbgrain or substrate
- 273°Fmax temperature
- 31.9 PSImax pressure
- 24×24×46"320 lbs
Set your temperature and sterilization time. The controller bleeds air automatically, builds to your target pressure, and only then starts the timer. When the cycle finishes you choose how it comes down: a computerized slow vent, or shut off and cool naturally. We run these daily and stock the wear parts.
Two ways to finish a cycle
This is the feature that decides your daily throughput, and it is worth understanding before you buy.
| Finish mode | Time to unload |
|---|---|
| Computerized slow vent — for back-to-back cycles | 15 – 25 min |
| Shut off and cool naturally | 3 – 4 hrs |
With the slow vent, a full grain run is roughly a 3-hour cook and about 4 to 4.5 hours from loading to unloading — which means you can genuinely run this machine twice in a working day. Natural cooling is gentler and needs no attention, but it ties the chamber up for the rest of the afternoon.
Slow venting is what protects filter patch bags on the way down. Bringing pressure off gradually rather than dumping it is the difference between unloading intact bags and cleaning up burst ones — it is a protective setting, not a convenience one.
Sterilization only — this model does not pasteurize
The 150L operates from 212°F upward and does not offer the low-temperature settings required for a true pasteurization cycle. If your program includes straw or bulk substrate that you intend to pasteurize rather than sterilize, you need a commercial chamber that holds a lower setpoint — our B-310L and larger models do both. For grain spawn, supplemented sawdust, master's mix, agar, and jars, this machine is fully capable.

Electrical and installation
This unit requires a 240V connection. Wiring it at home is comparable to installing a dryer or EV charger outlet: the machine arrives with color-coded leads, ready for the plug configuration you choose. We recommend an L6-30 plug and receptacle on a 30 amp circuit, which is what we run on our own units and have for years.
About the two amperage numbers. The factory rates the 6.0 kW heater at a 27 amp maximum. In our own in-house testing we have never measured a draw above 23 amps. We publish the factory's maximum because that is what they specify, but 23 amps is what these actually pull in production. Have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit for your panel before installation.
Running grain bags
- Prepare your grain bags as normal.
- Remove the two stainless baskets and add roughly 4 to 4.5 gallons of filtered water.
- Load bags in a circular pattern, stacking toward the top. Loading arrangement is flexible.
- Close the lid and tighten the clamps.
- Set the panel to 121°C with a 3 hour 30 minute sterilization time for a full load.
- Choose your finish mode: slow vent, or natural cool-down.
Some growers skip the inner baskets entirely and fit slightly more product per cycle.
Parts in stock, not on a boat
You will see this style of autoclave listed cheaper elsewhere. Those units are typically sitting overseas with an 8 to 12 week lead time and no support behind them once they land.
We hold the common wear parts and can source anything else within about a week, so a failure costs you days rather than months.
- Silicone lid gasket
- 6 kW heating element
- Temperature sensor

Common questions
How hard is this to install in my garage?
Comparable to adding an outlet for a dryer or an electric vehicle. The unit ships ready for the plug configuration you choose — we recommend an L6-30 plug and receptacle on a 30 amp circuit, available at any hardware store. Have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit and install the receptacle for your panel.
What does it actually draw?
The factory rates the 6.0 kW heater at 27 amps maximum. Our own in-house testing has never recorded a draw above 23 amps, and we have run these on L6-30 plugs for years without issue. We publish both figures so you and your electrician can size from the conservative one.
How much grain or substrate can I sterilize at once?
128 to 140 lbs per cycle, depending on bag size and how you load it. That is around 48 three-pound bags. The inner chamber measures roughly 20.5" wide by 29.5" tall, and some growers fit a little more by leaving the baskets out.
How long does it take to cool after sterilizing?
Your choice. The computerized slow vent brings pressure down in 15 to 25 minutes, which is what you want for back-to-back cycles. Letting it shut off and cool naturally takes 3 to 4 hours and requires nothing from you.
Can I pasteurize substrate in this unit?
No. The 150L runs from 212°F up and does not hold the lower setpoints a true pasteurization cycle needs. For substrate you intend to pasteurize, look at the B-310L or larger, which run both processes in the same chamber.
How does this compare to the B-310L?
The 150L is a top-loading vertical: you load and unload from above, into a hot chamber. The B-310L is side-loading at working height, roughly triples capacity at 450 lbs per cycle, and adds low-temperature pasteurization. The 150L costs considerably less and fits a smaller room.
What maintenance does it need?
Very little. These are durable units and, cared for properly, need few parts across their life. The heating element is rated for roughly 3,000 cook cycles. The lid gasket is the most common wear item — inspect it regularly for compression and cracking.
How does it ship?
Local pickup or LTL freight. Freight is not included in the purchase price — a separate invoice follows by email after your order. Contact us before ordering for a freight quote to your address. Every unit is tested before crating.
